The 3 Waka of Tairawhiti

Room 4 have been learning about the 3 Waka that represent our East Coast region - Tairawhiti.
The students worked in 3 separate groups & researched then created a poster about their Waka.

Matariki

In room 4 we learnt about 'Matariki' and the 9 stars that symbolize the Maori new year.
The children then worked in groups of 3 to create the 9 stars and what they symbolize.

Before we designed our stars the children listened to some audio stories about the different stars on spotify - the playlist is called '0800matariki' & read the story 'Twinkle, Twinkle, Matariki - by Rebecca Larsen'

A healthy me!

Room 4 have been learning about how to keep healthy this term. As a fun activity they created pieces of art work titled 'I am what I eat'.
The children had to design a face using only food!
Some children used carrots as noses, watermelon as a forehead, eggs as eyes and so many more cool creative ideas!

Kawa of care - chromebooks in room 4

Room 4 have been working on their 'Kawa of Care' to ensure we look after our chromebooks and follow the rules.

It is a 'work in progress' poster as we will add to it throughout the term!
